An oral public defense-of-thesis examination, scheduled by the student’s department, completes the requirements in all programs where a thesis is presented for a master’s degree. The oral defense-of-thesis is attended by the candidate’s major professor and graduate committee, members of the faculty from the major department, and the outside reader if one is required.
