Free, high speed access to the internet is available to students along with a wide range of productivity software and high-quality printing resources.

Connect to the Internet without wires in one of UB's 40 Wireless Internet Zones. All you need is a wireless network card and a laptop computer or PocketPC handheld device.

The Microsoft Toolkit, a package of Microsoft's most widely used software, is provided to every student once they start at UB. You'll use this software for, among other things, writing papers, making databases and spreadsheets, designing your web site, and creating PowerPoint presentations.

Bringing your computer to campus? Each residence hall room is wired with Ethernet data ports to give you a super-fast connection to the university's computing facilities. UB's ResNet service helps you connect.

Public and departmental computing labs offer more than 1800 computers and advanced workstations; sites in Capen Library and Bell Hall are open 24 hours a day most of the week. If you have a laptop, the libraries have more than 60 open ports to plug in to.

Off-campus students access the UB network via 1,000 high-speed modem lines, more than what any other SUNY campus has available.

MyUB is a web-based, personal portal to online UB resources students need the most. It allows you access to information from a web page custom-tailored to you, your major, and your interests. Your MyUB page will have links to every major area of interest, such as course registration, financial aid, exam schedules, grades, student services, career planning, and more.

Using Blackboard on UBlearns, UB courses take advantage of the Internet and online resources. Many UB professors post course syllabi and class notes and organize learning resources online or on web pages devoted to their courses.

UB's University Libraries system holds more than 3.5 million volumes, offers a web gateway to services and resources, and provides an exceptional array of electronic information resources including full-text journals and books, statistics, and world-wide newspapers current to the present day.

Cybraries, our state-of-the-art computer workstations, and workshops that teach computing and research skills make UB Libraries a complete information resource.

UB's powerful BISON (Buffalo Information System ONline) website, links to thousands of online resources for research and personal needs: library catalogs, reference databases, magazine and newspaper articles, indexes and abstracts, full-text journal articles, and many other electronic resources.

All of UB's classrooms are wired for Internet access; more than 40 are high-tech classrooms equipped with computer-projection systems.

The CIT (Computer and Information Technology) Help Desk provides computer support via phone, e-mail, and the web and is available virtually any time you need it. The CIT Help Desk will answer hardware and software questions, and provide valuable tips if your hard disk crashes or you're having a problem with a particular program.

UB offers many academic programs that lead to information technology-related careers, such as computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), computer science, and computer art.
